The County Council Elections due on the 1 MAY 2025 will go ahead as planned.
The potential delay was linked to Central Gov devolution plans to move to a unitary structure. Local authorities in Oxfordshire will now await further information from government on future timescales as to when a new unitary council or councils will go live.
The changes will ultimately merge County and District operations and mean services are provided by one unitary authority. Some Counties have already adopted this model such as Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire.
The move is welcomed by Conservatives as it should provide increased value for money for front line service delivery to residents and reduced cost for tax payers.
